Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the mission, general components and applications of the NIH MICAD program. 2. State the objectives and eligibility criteria of the MICAD Guest Author Program. 3. Discuss the purposes and inclusion criteria of the new chapter Supplemental Information Section.

Abstract Body: As one of the key components of the NIH Roadmap, the mission of the Molecular Imaging and Contrast Agent Database (MICAD; www.micad.nih.gov) program is to foster research and development in molecular imaging by providing freely accessible, online scientific information on in vivo molecular imaging and contrast agents to the community working in the field. Two new programs were implemented in 2007. 1) Guest Author Program. To facilitate rapid expansion of the database and to include all published in vivo molecular imaging and contrast agents, MICAD has implemented a program so that members of the imaging community can write and submit entries (chapters) for publication in the database as guest authors. All members of the imaging community are encouraged to consider preparing and submitting chapters of their agents of interest to the MICAD database. Contributing authors are duly acknowledged in the publication. 2) Supplemental Information Section. To provide a platform for members of the imaging community to share cutting-edge information that has not been published or is not readily available, a Supplemental Section is added to each chapter of a specific agent. This new and largely unrestricted section allows members of the imaging community to deposit files of images, research data, or other relevant information about the agent in each chapter.

Research Support: MICAD is supported by the Intramural Research Program of the NIH.
