Abstract Body: Standardized, structured reporting of diagnostic imaging examinations facilitates clinical communications and wide scale outcomes analyses. A simplified provisional molecular imaging reporting system (pMIRS) has evolved with assistance of over 20 users, applied to over 5,000 PET/CT examinations in oncology practice. The system now incorporates the anatomic localization lexicon newly systematized by the RadLex project of the RSNA, report content precepts articulated by the SNM, the ACR and others, and anticipates compliance with XML, DICOM, and HL-7 conventions. The system is usable with or without computer assistance. Free text supplements may be used if needed. Tedious components that initially met user resistance have been simplified. A clear, simple template, characterizes metabolic imaging abnormalities by localization, CT image features, and standardized qualitative or semi-quantitative uptake descriptors. A probabilistic diagnostic opinion is offered for each abnormality. Current capability emphasizes tumor staging examinations; improvements will enhance applicability to therapy assessments, inflammation evaluation, and outcomes audits. Professional society review is ongoing. Additional user feedback is critical; volunteers are solicited.
