Learning Objectives: The learning objective is to know how Integrating the Healthcare (IHE) and its function "Portable Data for Images" (PDI) works. It also enables to understand what is required for the department system as well as the whole electronic healthcare records (EHR) system.

Abstract (summary): Purpose The objective of this present study was to establish an easy and secured user interface for updating patient information by Portable Media Importer (PMI). This enabled to prevent possible human errors including typographical error at importing header data from other institute such as diagnostic center into PACS. Methods Before transferring image data from other institute, an order was generated by Order Placer and permitted PMI to acquire ORM message fro Order Filler to image Manager. We developed a tool for this that enabled to search HL7 orders using Patient ID as key information, as well as display and copy them easily. Results We could implement rapid and error-safe tool for importing patient information in comparison to input these data directly with keyboard. As these data derives from Order Placer, unique Accession Number could be transferred at the same time, linkage between an order on EHR and imported image data was established with no additional operation. Conclusion We developed a system based on PMI for updating patient information without using keyboard, which improved interoperability between EHR and Radiology Department System and thus plays an important role for limiting human errors in clinical setting.
